Brand new version of Ruby on Rails which was in production for almost two years has finally been released with many new enhancements that will please all the developers. Probably one of the most exciting things about Ruby on Rails 3.0 is that it finally came out with detailed documentation so experienced users and even newbies can learn how to program with Ruby on Rails easily.

Ruby on Rails 3.0 has came out with many new features and below are some of the major changes in the new version:

1. New Active Record query engine
Active Record has adopted the ARel query engine to make scopes and queries more consistent and makes it easier to build complex queries over several iterations.

2. Improved router for the Action Controller
New syntax is completely rewritten in favor of the REST style which is far more flexible.

3. New Action Mailer
Functionality will be much closer to the Action Controller.

4. Manage dependencies with Bundler
Now allows you to specify the libraries, frameworks, and plugins for your application.

5. Plugins APIs
New Railtie API makes it possible to modify the built-in generators, add rake tasks, configure default Rails options, and specify code to run as early, or as late as you need.

6. Completely rewritten internals
Rewrote the internals of Action Pack and Railties, making them much more flexible and easier to be extended.

Even though Ruby on Rails 3.0 has just been released, they are already planning a version 3.1 which will have even more improvements.
